Should you need to book off work for a reason other than illness, you should:

  1. Call in as soon as you know you will not be at work.
  2. Speak to your immediate supervisor, not to a non-management employee.
  3. If your supervisor is not available, get in touch with another supervisor in your department, for example, your supervisor’s supervisor.
